# Use Dcipher from Claude and ChatGPT

> Run Dcipher research projects from your AI assistant

## What is the Dcipher MCP server?

The Dcipher MCP server is a cloud-hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives AI assistants secure, real-time access to your Dcipher workspace. Once connected, Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client can create Dcipher projects, build knowledge bases from news, social media, research agents and your documents, run analyses and generate reports, all from a conversation.

## What you can do from Claude or ChatGPT

- **Build knowledge bases**: Create knowledge bases from news, social media, AI research agents or uploaded PDF and Word documents, and follow their progress.
- **Run analyses**: Set up Dcipher projects and run content, trend, competitor, customer and scenario analyses. Explore the results in interactive dashboards and reports.
- **Automate workflows**: Schedule your workflows to run weekly or monthly, so knowledge bases and project results stay up to date without manual work.
- **Publish results**: Share interactive dashboards with colleagues or customers, so everyone works from the same up-to-date results.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need a Dcipher account?

Yes, and a free trial account works too. When you connect, you sign in with your usual Dcipher login and approve the connection on a consent screen.

### What data can the AI assistant access?

Exactly what you can access in Dcipher, nothing more. Every tool call is checked against your normal organization and project roles and permissions, and a change to your role applies immediately.

### Does the AI assistant see my Dcipher password?

No. The connection uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, so the assistant receives a short-lived access token and never sees or stores your password.

### Which AI assistants are supported?

Claude (including Claude Desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT and Google Gemini, as well as other clients that support the MCP Streamable HTTP transport and OAuth 2.1 with PKCE.
