How to use Dcipher Analytics from Claude and ChatGPT

Many analysts now start their day in an AI assistant. They draft in Claude, brainstorm in ChatGPT and ask quick questions in whichever tab is open. Until now, the research itself still meant switching to a separate tool.

Dcipher Analytics is now listed in the Claude connector directory and the ChatGPT app directory. Once you connect it, you can run Insight Booster projects from the conversation: collect sources, run analyses and turn the results into reports.

This post covers what the connector does, how to set it up and a few ways to use it.

What is the Dcipher MCP server?

The connector is built on the Dcipher MCP server, a cloud-hosted Model Context Protocol server that gives AI assistants secure, real-time access to your Dcipher workspace. MCP is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to tools and data, which is why the same server works with Claude, ChatGPT, Google Gemini and other MCP clients.

The assistant does the conversation. Dcipher does the research work: collecting news, social media and web sources, running research agents, analyzing thousands of documents and keeping every insight linked to its source.

What you can do from Claude or ChatGPT

Build knowledge bases. Ask the assistant to create a knowledge base from news, social media, AI research agents or your own PDF and Word documents. It can follow the progress and tell you when the data is ready.

Set up Insight Booster projects. Create, clone, rename, archive and restore projects, attach knowledge bases and filter the data by metadata, documents or time period.

Run analyses. Configure landscape, trend radar, bump chart, research matrix and scenario workbenches, and read the results back into the conversation.

Ask questions and write reports. Search the documents in a project, ask the Research Bot and generate structured reports from your report templates.

How to connect

Claude

  1. Open the Dcipher Analytics listing in the Claude connector directory and add it.
  2. Sign in with your usual Dcipher login and approve the connection on the consent screen.

In Claude Code, run:

claude mcp add --transport http dcipher https://mcp.dcipheranalytics.com/mcp

Then run /mcp in a session to sign in.

ChatGPT

  1. Open the Dcipher Analytics app in the ChatGPT app directory and add it.
  2. Sign in with your Dcipher login and approve the connection.

Other MCP clients

Any client that supports the MCP Streamable HTTP transport and OAuth 2.1 with PKCE can connect to https://mcp.dcipheranalytics.com/mcp. The AI Gateway guides in our Help Center cover the details.

Three ways to use it

A trend radar before your next strategy meeting. "Create a project on the future of sustainable packaging, build a news knowledge base from the last twelve months and set up a trend radar." The assistant creates the project and the knowledge base, configures the radar and summarizes the strongest trends when the analysis is done. You open the radar in Dcipher to explore it and share it with your team.

A competitor check without opening a dashboard. "Which product launches did our three main competitors announce this quarter?" The assistant searches the documents in your competitor monitoring project and answers with references to the original sources.

A first draft of the monthly report. "Generate this month's report from our market intelligence template." Dcipher writes each section from the knowledge base with references, and you edit the draft instead of starting from a blank page.

Security and permissions

The assistant gets exactly the access you already have in Dcipher, nothing more. Every tool call is checked against your organization and project roles, the same way the web app checks them. If an administrator changes your role, the change applies to the assistant immediately.

The connection uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. You sign in on Dcipher's own login page, and the assistant receives a short-lived access token. It never sees or stores your password.

Get started

You need a Dcipher account to connect, and the connector works on the free trial too. If you do not have an account yet, start a free trial or book a demo and we will show you the connector with your own use case.
